Founded in 1851, Kaywoodie has long stood as one of America’s most storied pipe makers. From its early roots in New York to becoming a cornerstone of 20th-century pipe culture, Kaywoodie earned its reputation for quality craftsmanship and innovative designs. For generations of pipe smokers, a Kaywoodie was often the first “serious” pipe in the rack. This year’s contest pipe is especially meaningful, as Kaywoodie celebrates its 175th anniversary. Marking nearly two centuries of pipe-making tradition, this commemorative pipe honors a legacy that has shaped American pipe history—and makes this year’s Slow Smoke a small but fitting chapter in that continuing story.
